Holiday Open House at the Johnsonburg Community Trust's Heritage-Education & Welcome Center
The Johnsonburg Community Trust (JCT) invites the public to celebrate the season at its annual Christmas Open House at the Heritage-Education & Welcome Center (HEWC) on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the historic Armstrong Brick Block in downtown Johnsonburg.
This beloved community event is part of a town-wide holiday celebration, featuring three major gatherings — the HEWC Open House, the Johnsonburg Area Chamber of Commerce Holiday Market, and the Johnsonburg Fire Department Holidayfest — along with special activities hosted by downtown businesses. Together, these events create a festive, hometown kickoff to the holiday season.
“You can explore the historic Brick Block, meet local artists and authors, shop two major markets, enjoy lunch at the Fire Hall, and support small-town revival all in one day,” said Stephanie Distler, President of the Johnsonburg Community Trust. “It’s everything we love about community — history, creativity, and heart.”

Living Windows & Artist Demonstrations with Janet Lenze VanEerden (Market Street architectural sketches) and Jesse Gradl (mono printing). These two talented artists are from Gallery 29, St. Marys, PA
Public Typewriter Project, refreshments and mini tours of restoration progress.

The Johnsonburg Community Trust is thrilled to announce the return of its two-day Brick Block Arts & Heritage Festival, celebrating Johnsonburg’s unique culture and history in the heart of downtown.
This year’s theme, “America 250,” commemorates the nation’s 250th birthday and coincides with the Johnsonburg Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Alumni & Friends Weekend.
Market Street will be the heart of the festivities, featuring live music, food trucks, local business specials, heritage activities, and family fun.
Some of the activities include Darkwater Duo/JB Unplugged, artists/artisans, exhibits, demonstrations, food trucks, etc. etc. Friday and Saturday bands to be announced , Carshow, artists/artisans, organizations, wildlife exhibits, food trucks, etc. etc.

The Johnsonburg Community Trust, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, continues to lead the revitalization of the historic 1890s Armstrong Brick Block — one of the region’s most significant architectural landmarks and a symbol of Johnsonburg’s resilience.
Once the first outdoor mall in the United States, the Brick Block has stood through generations of the town’s story. Now, through the passion of volunteers and the support of donors and partners, it is entering a new chapter as a center for new retail businesses, heritage, arts, and community connection.

This year's A&H Festival is, Friday, July 11th, 4:00-11:00pm and also this year you now have the option to set-up for a 2nd day on Saturday, July 12th, 10:00am-3:00pm. Johnsonburg's colorful history, heritage and downtown vibe are celebrated during the 21st Annual Alumni & Friends Event Weekend!
Friday night 4-11, we’ll kick off the weekend on Market Street, in the center of the Commercial Historic District with 2000+ visitors. Even more festival goers expected for 2025! Market Street will be central for the Arts & Heritage Festival, exhibits/displays in the Heritage Education & Welcome Center, live music from headliner Darkwater Duo 7-10, Dan Weyant 4-7, Zambelli Fireworks sponsored by the Johnsonburg Borough & Domtar (beginning at 9:30), food trucks, local business specials, and many other activities being scheduled.

This year’s event will take place on Friday, July 12th & Saturday July 13th.
Friday Night, we’ll kick off the weekend in historic downtown Johnsonburg.
Market Street will be center stage for our Artisan & Heritage Market, exhibits/displays in the Heritage Education & Welcome Center, live music from our headliner Trixx, food trucks, local business specials, as well as a spectacular fireworks display sponsored by the Johnsonburg Borough & Domtar.
❓️We've had A LOT of questions about Saturday Night's dinner/dance for Alumni & Friends 20th Anniversary Reunion Weekend , so we thought we'd answer some of them to help clear things up! 👇
📃Reservation forms are available at The Johnsonburg Borough Office, Johnsonburg Community Center, Johnsonburg Public Library, Johnsonburg Senior Center & Central's Social Club.
🎟Pig Roast/dance reservations are $40 per ticket and then admission for the band only can be purchased at the door for $10 after dinner.
🚗 The entire 500 block of Market Street will be available for handicapped parking.
♿️ The main event will be held on the 1st floor of the JCC in the gym, which is handicapped accessible.
🪑Outdoor tables and seating will be available on the side porch.
🎶Mike Kreckel DJ Services will be providing a nostalgic playlist of tracks that will be sure to evoke memories for every graduating class from 1954 - 2019, during dinner and until 8:00 p.m.

JCT Presents: The 17th Annual Alumni and Friends Reunion
UPDATE—We regret that the 17th Annual Reunion is postponed until September 10th and 11th, 2021 (due to pandemic concerns). However, please know that some borough alumni are considering gathering at the Trust’s July 26th BBQ Blowout, to take advantage of Elk County’s currently green status for gatherings.
The Paper City BBQ Blowout
The Johnsonburg Community Trust is hosting our first annual Paper City BBQ Blowout Competition, open to the public from 11am-6pm, on Sunday, July 26th, 2020 (as long as PA remains in green pandemic status).
This event will be held in front of the Johnsonburg Community Center at 600 Market Street, Johnsonburg. Entertainment includes a DJ and live musical performers from 11am-6pm on Sunday. (The Trust will charge a $10 admission fee and will be selling beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and additional side dishes during the event.) Please bring your lawn chair and come spend an afternoon of BBQ and entertainment!
